Click! Cable TV ON Demand showcases “Twilight Spotlight” about Quileute Nation
Diane Lachel, government and community relations manager, (253) 502-8537
Season Elliott, ReelzTV, (877) 733-5899

Click! Cable TV is the region’s exclusive outlet for a first-ever television program about the Quileute Nation. The program, produced by REELZCHANNEL, shows the culture, traditions and history of the northwest tribe made famous by the Twilight saga of books and movies.

“Twilight fans will enjoy being transported to the celebrations of the Quileute culture, in this special program provided exclusively to Click!,“ said Mitch Robinson, marketing and business operations manager for Click!. “We’re excited our customers will get a rare view into this part of the Northwest’s rich heritage.”

The episode will air ON Demand beginning Jan. 6, 2010 and captures the sweeping landscapes of the tribal lands. Viewers will see the locations recreated for the film including the beach where Jacob tells Bella about the Cullen vampire legend; the cliffs that Bella leaps from to draw Edward back to her and the school Jacob attended as described in New Moon.

“The ‘Twilight phenomenon’ gives the Quileute Nation an opportunity to educate the world about their true history and creation story,” said Quileute spokesperson Jackie Jacobs. “It was very important to this Nation to partner with an organization we felt understood that the non-fictional Quileute story is more complex, multi-dimensional and sacred than the one everyone has been exposed to through the film. We have been inundated with requests from various outlets to tell the story but felt that REELZCHANNEL embodied the authentic direction we wanted to explore while keeping it fun and interesting for the fans.”

Click! ON Demand is accessible to Click! Cable TV customers with a digital receiver and is available 24/7. Just go to Click! ON Demand and click on “Twilight Spotlight” in the lower left corner.

Click! ON Demand features local artists on new “TacomaArt & Culture” channel
Media contacts: Naomi Strom-Avila, City of Tacoma cultural arts specialist, (253) 591-5191
Diane Lachel, Click! Cable TV government and community relations manager, (253) 502-8537

Click! Cable TV customers now have an even wider palette of on-demand options to choose from. Click! ON Demand’s new “TacomaArt & Culture” channel airs a variety of current arts programs and projects created by South Sound artists, including artists and organizations funded by the City of Tacoma Arts Commission.

Earlier this summer, the Arts Commission sponsored a juried process for local artists to promote the creation of original video, audio and performance pieces for the new channel. Submissions were rated on artistic excellence, general interest and appeal to a wide audience.

One Tacoma artist, Holly Senn, submitted short videos that provide background information on how four of her art installations came about. The videos were initially produced with YouTube audiences in mind.

“The Commission’s invitation offered an opportunity to share my work with a wider audience,” Senn said. “My work is on display anywhere from three weeks to three months, and then it’s gone. My art explores the life cycle of ideas. I use botanical forms as a model to show how thoughts originate, germinate and then are disseminated or forgotten.”

“This is exactly what we hoped for when partnering with Click!,” said City of Tacoma Arts  Administrator Amy McBride. “It’s a chance for local artists to have a new venue in which to showcase their art and themselves. Holly Senn took full advantage of the opportunity and if you haven’t seen her work, you’re in for a surprise!”

Other local artists’ work include “Where Rails Meet Sails” an album fusing rock, electronica and folk by recording artist Chad Hagedorn and poetry brought to life with photographs and music by Jennifer Chushcoff in her two submittals, “Tacoma Transplant” and “Elemental Elegy.”

Click! Cable TV customers with a digital receiver can access ON Demand 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
